Covid-19 altered the modi operandi of criminals. Offences related to cybercrime and online criminal activities increased significantly. Trade of illicit goods and services has moved even more to the Darknet; the number of phishing attempts, cases of online fraud, investment fraud, cyberattacks in the health sector and trade in counterfeit medical products has increased. This seminar will focus on internet searches for legal practitioners.

The Conference will offer the occasion to discuss these questions, and other potentials and challenges that have arisen since the start of the EPPO’s operations with the view to launching further research and policy debate. High-profile speakers from various EU institutions, bodies, offices and agencies, national practitioners, and prominent academic experts will participate in the conference, and provide theoretical and practical insights into the EPPO’s way forward.

This conference will bring legal practitioners up-to-date by providing an overview of the latest European Union and Council of Europe policy developments, legislative initiatives and case law in the field of fundamental rights and artificial intelligence systems.

The aim of this online seminar is to provide the audience with an update on the emerging system of data governance in Europe. This final seminar in a series of three co-financed by the European Commission will analyse the scope of the problem of demand for trafficking in human beings (THB) and how it can be countered with prevention initiatives on demand reduction. Clamping down on new and emerging tools being used by traffickers, in particular in the cyber domain, will be examined.

The Brussels Privacy Hub Summer Academy for Global Privacy Law 2023 will focus on the topic “From Data Access to Data Transformations: How to Govern Data in the Age of Analytics and AI?”. Each day of the Academy will focus on a topic and will deliver a keynote session, lectures, and a workshop, which will give participants the opportunity to apply their knowledge through practical exercises.
