This conference aims at presenting an update on the state of play regarding the six EU Directives on procedural rights and discussing the need for further measures at EU level. The conference will offer lectures, round-tables and discussions for judges, prosecutors, defence lawyers, court interpreters, as well as prison and probation staff from all over the EU.

The seminar will analyse the latest developments and challenges faced within the EU in dealing with and countering migrant smuggling. This will be done within the context of the ongoing shifting routes of irregular migration and issues being faced in relation to the criminalisation of the facilitation of irregular migration vs. the giving of humanitarian assistance, as well as how enhancing cooperation with third countries can assist in countering migrant smuggling and its root causes.

The main objective of this seminar is to train EU legal practitioners on the fundamentals of computer forensics enabling them to gain an understanding of the complex challenges related to criminal cases with tech/internet components. This seminar will focus on open-source intelligence tools and forensic analysis.
