Civil Rights Organisations Criticise Prüm II Proposal
On 7 September 2022, the European Digital Rights (EDRi) network published a position paper on the proposed Regulation on automated data exchange for police cooperation, known as “Prüm II”. The position paper raises several critical issues of the proposal, such as the insufficient alignment to the Law Enforcement Directive.

Commission Proposes Budgetary Protection Measures against Hungary - EP Remains Sceptical
On 18 September 2022, the Commission proposed measures against Hungary under the conditionality mechanism. The Council has now one month to adopt the proposed measures, which include the suspension of 65% of commitments for three operational programmes under cohesion policy.

Congreso Internacional: Retos de la cooperación judicial europea en materia civil y penal
The international conference will discuss challenges for the EU Area of Freedom, Security and Justice and its cooperation mechanisms in civil and criminal matters. It is part of the project “Civil and Criminal Procedural Law from the Perspective of the European Union: the consolidation of the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (CAJI)”. The organizers also published a call for papers. Best defended works will be proposed for publication in a subsequent collective book.
