The AEDPJ (Association of European Data Protection Judges) together with ERA (Academy of European Law) is proud to announce a lunchtime webinar, which members and other interested parties are invited to attend.

The focus of this year's summer school of the European Criminal Law Network centers on the procedural safeguards across the EU and their adequacy in the digital age.

This conference presents the results of a comparative legal study of 14 EU Member States and respective criminal policy guidelines with regard to the risks to the preservation of democracy that are posed by digitalisation. In particular, it discusses whether activities such as the manipulation of public elections through deepfakes and social bots should be criminalised.

This course will provide a thorough introduction to European information technology law and digital law. Focus will be on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and Internet of Things, cybersecurity, and EU initiatives on access to data in the digital environment.

This online seminar will analyse the practical issues faced by police and criminal justice authorities in protecting individuals’ personal data when it is being processed under the terms of the EU Law Enforcement Directive and also place it within the wider data protection setting.

Each year, EDEN organises a conference with speakers and participants from law enforcement, the data protection community, private industry, NGOs, academia, and other interested sectors. Given the conservative nature of the legal profession, the fact that most senior legal professionals were trained in a pre-technological context, and the slow speed with which governments tend to react responsibly to innovation, there is a knowledge gap that needs to be  urgently filled.

CPDP 2026 will be a pivotal conference for reflecting on digital governance a decade after the GDPR. It will examine the competing and converging global approaches to regulation and assess the GDPR's impact amid calls for simplification. The discussions will extend beyond laws to address broader tensions around digital sovereignty, trade, infrastructure, and the datafication of war and public services.

UNODC and UNEP will convene a critical discussion on waste trade integrity, uniting policymakers, law enforcement, industry leaders, and experts. Together, we will expose the scale of waste crime, explore solutions to strengthen integrity in waste trade, and ensure waste is managed as a resource for a secure and circular economy.
