First Preliminary Ruling by the General Court Delivered
On 9 July 2025, approximately nine months after jurisdiction to rule on references for a preliminary ruling was conferred on it, the General Court of the European Union delivered its first preliminary ruling judgment. ECJ: No Obligation for Mutual Recognition of Decision Taken in Favour of a Person Requested for Extradition to a Third Country
On 19 June 2025, the ECJ ruled that an authority of an EU Member State is not obliged to mutually recognise a decision taken in another EU Member State that refused extradition of an individual to a third state. Spotlight First Monitoring Report of MEDICRIME Convention
On 2 April 2025, the first monitoring report on the implementation of the Council of Europe MEDICRIME Convention was released. The monitoring round has focused on the protection of public health through the MEDICRIME Convention in times of pandemics, including the COVID-19 crisis. The report identified measures in eight thematic areas, including prevention and training as well as investigations and prosecutions of the offences set up in the Convention. Read more

ECJ: VAT Fraudster Must Be Surrendered to Spain
