New EU Rules on Protection of the Environment through Criminal Law
On 30 April 2024, Directive (EU) 2024/1203 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 April 2024 on the protection of the environment through criminal law was published in the Official Journal of the EU. The Directive establishes updated minimum EU-wide standards for the definition of environmental criminal offences and penalties, replacing the previous 2008 legislation.
