On 11 March 2021, the EU Commission published a roadmap for the new edition of the EU Justice Scoreboard 2021. The roadmap sets out the Commission’s approach for this year’s ninth report on the state of European justice systems. For previous editions → eucrim 2/2020, 74-75 and eucrim 1/2019, 7-8. The Justice Scoreboard serves to strengthen the rule of law and helps Member States to identify potential shortcomings, improvements and “best practices” in national justice systems on the basis of a number of indicators relating to the efficiency, quality and independence of justice systems. In addition to being used in the context of the Rule of Law Report 2021, this year’s Justice Scoreboard will also provide assistance in the context of the European Semester and in the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility – a measure aimed at addressing the immediate economic and social impact of the corona pandemic. The Commission is accepting feedback on this roadmap until 8 April 2021.
