On 13 October 2025, the justice ministers of the EU Member States held a political debate on the future of Eurojust at the JHA Council meeting. They provided political guidance to the European Commission for a possible revision of the Eurojust Regulation following the evaluation of the Eurojust Regulation that was presented in July 2025 (→eucrim 2/2025, 130-131). According to the ministers, Eurojust should have the means and tools to support concrete investigations. Eurojust should also play a role when it comes to improving judicial cooperation between the EU and third countries. In this context, Eurojust could support the extradition of drug criminals.
