The second edition of the Article-by-Article commentary on the EPPO Regulation has been published. The commentary was founded and is edited by Dr. Hans-Holger Herrnfeld, Prof. Dr. Dominik Brodowski, LL.M. (UPenn), and Prof. Dr. Christoph Burchard, LL.M. (NYU). It is published by the renowned Nomos Verlag. This commentary has become the leading English-language reference work on the legal framework of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO).

Since beginning operations in June 2021, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) has established itself as the central authority for prosecuting offenses detrimental to the financial interests of the EU. The second edition of the commentary reflects all current developments and landmark judgments of the Court of Justice of the European Union, including:

• The EPPO’s Rules of Procedure;
• Relevant CJEU case law concerning the EPPO, in particular
  • judgment C-281/22 on cross-border investigative measures, and
  • judgment C-292/23 on legal protection against investigative measures;
• Further decisions of the EPPO College on internal procedural rules and guidelines.

The volume also outlines considerations for extending the EPPO’s mandate and for improving its legal framework in future.
