Strengthening the Future of the EPPO
From 31 March to 2 April 2025, Villa Vigoni, was the setting for a high-calibre exchange on the state and future of the EPPO and its underlying legal framework. Legal experts convened to discuss the implementation and impact of the EPPO Regulation, the effectiveness and efficiency of the Office, and its working practices. This conference report summarises the presentations and the discussions incentivising thoughts about the future shape of the EPPO.

Recent Judgments on Fundamental Rights and Environmental Protection
This online seminar will discuss the recent EU judgments on the intersection of fundamental rights and environmental protection. Focus will be placed on the recent case law of the ECtHR as well as the CJEU while also comparing the distinct approaches of both Courts to environmental protection.  The practical-oriented approach will allow for a takeaway message on current key issues in environmental litigation, including access to justice, admissibility issues and signals for domestic systems.

ECJ: No Obligation for Mutual Recognition of Decision Taken in Favour of a Person Requested for Extradition to a Third Country
On 19 June 2025, the ECJ ruled that an authority of an EU Member State is not obliged to mutually recognise a decision taken in another EU Member State that refused extradition of an individual to a third state. However, it must take due account of the reasons of this previous decision in its own assessment of a possible refusal on the ground of fundamental rights.
