On 12 June 2019, Frontex opened a Risk Analysis Cell in Dakar, Senegal. The cell will collect and analyse strategic data on cross-border crime and support relevant authorities involved in border management. It is run by local analysts trained by Frontex. The measure is part of the Africa-Frontex Intelligence Community (AFIC) that was launched in 2010 to provide a framework for regular information sharing on migrant smuggling and border security threats.
