On 15 July 2020, Frontex launched an operation in Montenegro so as to tackle cross-border crime, including migrant smuggling, trafficking in human beings, document fraud, stolen vehicles and boats, smuggling of drugs and weapons, and terrorism. Measures include, for instance, the deployment of officers to support Montenegro’s border guards at the border with Croatia. The operation is the second one launched by Frontex outside the EU.
