On 2 July 2019, Europol launched a new task force to strengthen its fight against criminal networks involved in migrant smuggling and trafficking of human beings. The Joint Liaison Task Force Migrant Smuggling and Trafficking in Human Beings (JLT-MS) will focus on intelligence-led coordinated action with liaison officers from all EU Member States and other partners that are part of this operational platform. It will also support the development of stronger operational strategies to disrupt international criminal networks. Financial investigations and, ultimately, the gathering of proceeds of crime are expected to become more efficient through the task force.
