Manipulated Tennis Competitions

At the beginning of January 2019, an operation against an organised criminal group suspected of manipulating professional tennis competitions led to the arrest of 83 suspects, 28 of them professional players. Professional players had been bribed to guarantee predetermined results. Members of the OCG then used the identities of thousands of citizens to bet on the pre-arranged games.

Europol supported the investigation with analytical support and provided on-the-spot assistance during the operation.
