On 22 September 2022, Europol and the Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed a Liaison Officer Agreement allowing UAE law enforcement liaison officers to be deployed to Europol’s headquarters in The Hague. The presence of a UAE liaison officer at Europol will promote operational cooperation between the UAE and the law enforcement authorities of the EU Member States. The agreement on UAE's Liaison Bureau at Europol follows the conclusion of an Agreement on Strategic Cooperation between the UAE and Europol in 2016.
