Joint Cybercrime Action Taskforce Enlarged

Sweden and Poland have joined Europol’s Joint Cybercrime Action Taskforce (J-CAT). J-CAT operates within Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) and aims to enhance collaboration between law enforcement authorities in tackling major cybercrime threats and facilitating cross-border investigations. The 24/7 taskforce primarily deals with cyber-dependent crimes, cross-crimal facilitators, transnational payment fraud, and child sexual exploitation. It was launched in September 2014 and today comprises cyber liaison officers from 15 countries (nine EU Member States and six non-EU countries) and 17 law enforcement agencies.

For 2019, J-CAT is planning four webinars in cooperation with CEPOL to raise awareness among law enforcement agencies about the taskforce and how to cooperate with it.
