First Liaison Prosecutor for Moldova
For the first time, the Republic of Moldova has stationed a liaison prosecutor at Eurojust. At the beginning of September 2023, Mr Mihail Ivanov took up this new position, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the Moldovan authorities and Eurojust in cases of serious cross-border crime. Prior to his secondment, Mr Ivanov served as interim deputy to the Chief Prosecutor of the Moldovan Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office. He has also held positions as contact point responsible for law enforcement issues with the Anti-Corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the OECD, as prosecutor in the Moldavian Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, and as a military prosecutor for the Chisinau Military Prosecutor’s Office. The posting of Mr Ivanov implements a Eurojust cooperation agreement with Moldova, which entered into force in October 2016. Cases at Eurojust involving Moldova have become increasingly important.
