Under the supervision of the General Prosecutor’s Office (DIICOT), together with Bitdefender and Europol, the Romanian Police (IGPR) developed a decryption tool for victims of GrandCrab ransomware. The tool is available free of charge from www.nomoreransom.org.

GrandCrab encrypts files on a victim’s computer. A decryption key is offered against a ransom payment of USD 300-500 in the DASH virtual currency. The ransomware is spread via malicious advertisements published on compromised websites or through fictitious invoices sent as attachments in emails.
