In August and September 2020, in a first airborne mission of its kind, Frontex and the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA) joined forces to support Cyprus in tracking down illegal fishing in the southern part of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Cyprus. Frontex supported the operation by providing surveillance aircraft and validating vessels not transmitting their position in the area concerned.
