ROUNDTABLE: EU Law Enforcement – Effective and under control

The Jean Monnet Network on EU Law Enforcement (EULEN) for policy makers and academics

Published 1 year, 4 months ago

Enforcement is an essential step to ensure the core values and policy aims of EU laws and policies. It has been the major focus of the Jean Monnet Network on EU law Enforcement (EULEN) since 2019. In the four years of its operation, nine universities who have launched this network, have organized more than 20 events, have issued seven online working papers’ series, awarded four master thesis prizes and have exchanged their research and teaching staff to boost research on the so far understudied pertinent questions surrounding the theme of enforcement of EU laws. The question of enforcement of EU laws has been approached from individual, sectoral perspectives (migration, banking and finance, protection of the EU’s financial interest, and competition law) as well as from the perspective of the cross-cutting themes of the rule of law, effectiveness, including diversity and uniformity in the EU, and technological innovations. What is the state of the art in research and practice on the enforcement of EU laws and what are the pertinent questions to investigate and develop further? This one-day roundtable aims at presenting the network’s ideas and conclusions to support researchers and practitioners in their work on enforcement.
