Justice, Security and Fundamental Rights Dialogue on EU Law Enforcement Policies

Published 3 weeks, 5 days ago

As digital transformation accelerates and cybercrime becomes increasingly sophisticated, governments across Europe are constantly assessing how to enhance law enforcement capabilities, bolster security, and foster innovative collaboration between public and private actors. At the same time, the digitalization of society underscores the continuous need to uphold democratic values and protect fundamental rights.

This high-level event brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, including government officials, private sector leaders, academics, and civil society representatives—for an in-depth dialogue on the future of EU law enforcement and security policy. Together, we will exchange ideas on how to modernize Europe’s law enforcement frameworks in an increasingly digitized society, while ensuring alignment with fundamental rights and the rule of law.

Through three expert-led panels, the discussion will focus on the evolving role of private actors in cybersecurity, the legal and operational challenges of cross-border data access for law enforcement, and the potential for an EU-wide data retention framework that meets the standards set by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU).

This invitation-only event follows our previous edition on the topic of Policy Developments and Prospects for the New Mandate in November 2024.
