Joining forces against illegal timber on the EU market

Published 3 years, 8 months ago

Forest crime is a growing problem with links to organised crime and corruption. Eben though the EU Timber Trade Regulation (EUTR) has been in place since 2013, loopholes in the legislation and implementation gaps at national level have hindered a real change in practice, and very few relevant cases have been brought to the courts.

Bringing together stakeholders from law enforcement and civil society, the aim of this closing workshop is to improve the effectiveness of efforts to fight illegal logging, to generate substantial spill-over effect to other EU member states, and so strengthen existing and build up new networks.
