International Extradition and the European Arrest Warrant

Since 2016, this two-day seminar investigates current worldwide developments in extradition law and cases, including the European Arrest Warrant system.

The seminar is organised by Prof. Stefano Maffei, in cooperation with the international extradition group and ECCLE.

Subjects covered:

  • Extradition basics (domestic and international regulations);
  • National reports on extradition by keynote speakers;
  • Case law relating to the European Arrest Warrant;
  • How to challenge extradition requests and rights of fugitive suspects;
  • Updates on notable pending extradition cases across the world (Assange, etc.)
  • Unlawful and disguised forms of extradition (such as extraordinary rendition and expulsion of aliens).

Ideal for:

Criminal defence attorneys, federal and state judges, prosecutors, federal law enforcement, academic lawyers with an interest in criminal justice, human rights and comparative law.
