Law needs to change with the times – but to what extent? Rapid developments in technology have introduced ways that not only impact individuals and businesses, but also courts and other dispute resolution institutions. How these developments can be taken advantage of to improve the finding of justice needs careful consideration. A completely off-premises criminal trial for example could bring large benefits for the court system (i.e. lower costs) but could, at the same time, introduce semantic and body-language misconceptions.
This symposium provides a platform for renowned scholars to present their research into the digitalisation of justice. It therefore does not focus on specific topics, but leaves it up to the speakers to identify important aspects.
Scholars will have the opportunity to author a chapter in an edited book on the conference published by Springer and/or present their research at the conference.
For details see the call for abstracts addressed to doctoral candidates or postdocs (up to one year after completing the PhD) and the call for chapters addressed to established researchers (i.e., more than one year after PhD completion) or practitioners. Deadline for both calls: 9 November 2025
A detailed programme will follow in January 2026. Signing up for updates on the conference can be made here.
