Objective
This advanced course provides thorough practical insights on the judicial review of the legality of EU sanctions. It equips legal representatives and agents before the EU courts with the most updated know-how to successfully navigate such proceedings.

You will become acquainted with the procedural specificities of EU sanctions and the avenues open to contest their legality.
You will gain professional insights into several technical aspects of the action for annulment of EU sanctions initiated by individuals and their legal counsels. You will also enhance your knowledge on how to assess the relevance of an appeal against a decision of the General Court.
Grounds of review, the rules on legal standing and all other crucial aspects of the procedures available to challenge the legality of EU restrictive measures will be studied and clarified, granting you a comprehensive and detailed overview of the current judicial landscape.
Examples from case law will provide the starting point for discussions of issues pertaining to access to classified documents that might underlie given sanctions. Special focus will be given to the obligations weighing on the EU institutions and especially the Council.
